Award-winning
choreographer, Peggy Hickey
is one of the most versatile choreographers today, working extensively
in television, film, theatre, and opera. Peggy was awarded the MTV
Video Music Award for Best Choreography for her work on Grammy-Award
winner Becks THE NEW POLLUTION. She also choreographed the very
successful Nurses Ball episodes for eight consecutive
years for ABCs GENERAL HOSPITAL and PORT CHARLES. Peggy was
nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Dance Sequence in a Feature
Film for her work on the box-office hit, THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE for
Paramount. Peggy most recently completed choreographing the hilarious,
tongue-in-cheek Jailhouse Tango episode for NBCs
PASSIONS.
Peggy also works extensively in opera, and has collaborated with such
renowned artists as Placido Domingo, Samuel Ramey, Denyce Graves,
Susan Graham, and Franco Zeffirelli among others. Her work has been
performed at Los Angeles Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand
Opera, Seattle Opera, Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Santa Fe
Opera, Palm Beach Opera, and the Julliard School, where she choreographed
HANSEL UND GRETEL which was subsequently televised Live From Lincoln
Center on PBS. Internationally, Peggy has traveled to China to choreograph
LA CENERENTOLA for the Hong Kong Arts Festival; and to Finland for
SALOME for the Savonlinna Opera Festival. In September 2003, Peggy
made her Kennedy Center debut choreographing DIE FLEDERMAUS for Washington
Opera, which was broadcast on PBS Great Performances.
Peggy has also choreographed for some of the countrys most distinguished
regional theatres. She is a two-time recipient of the Connecticut
Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Choreography for BRIGADOON and
ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY at the renowned Goodspeed Opera House in
Connecticut. Also at the Goodspeed, Peggy has choreographed A LITTLE
NIGHT MUSIC (Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Choreography
nominee) and the recent revival of THE KING OF HEARTS. Other regional
credits include GIGI for Music Theatre West (L.A. Dramalogue Award);
THE KING AND I for Casa Manana; MY FAIR LADY and CAROUSEL for Sacramento
Music Circus; and STATE FAIR for Music Theatre of Wichita. Peggy was
also awarded the Independent Reviewers of New Englands Award
for Choreography for the Reagle Players production of SINGIN
IN THE RAIN in Massachusetts.
In addition to her work as a choreographer, Peggy also serves as a
visiting professor in Theatre Dance for UCLA, UC Irvine, Cal State
Sacramento, and Glendale City College. |
